Ms. Kay Fairchild is the brass instructor at Pope. She is the trumpet instructor for Sym I, Sym II, & Concert Band.  Kay is the director of the Brass Band where she introduced the British Brass Band style to the Pope kids.  She has a private studio where she teaches several Pope kids as well as other high school trumpeters.  Kay is also a VERY talented trumpet player and musician.  Kay studied music education at Tennessee Tech and transferred to Georgia State University to study trumpet performance. Mr. Gary Gribble is the director of bands at Pope High School. He currently is playing trumpet in the Cobb Wind Symphony.  Mr. "G" is a great band director who truly teaches his students not only music lessons, but lessons in life.  As head director he conducts the Symphonic I, Concert Band, & Jazz Band, leads the marching band, assists with chamber ensembles, teaches student leadership, etc.  Mr. Gribble studied music education at Georgia State University.

Mr. David Fairchild (a.k.a. Scooter) is the band director at Lakeside High School but before appointment there, he was a marching instructor at Pope.  He instructed the brass but specifically the Low Brass.  He currently is the director to the Pope Brass Ensemble and is a huge hit with the kids.  Even though he is from the "Dark Side," he is a trumpet player at heart.  He is the son of Kay and something HAD to have rubbed off on him.  Dave hosts the Atlanta Trumpet Ensemble at his school and he went to WCU with the "Fairchild Studio" which CLEARLY makes him an Honorary Pope Trumpet.

Mr. Mike Barry is a great friend to the Pope trumpets. He has honored us with his presence at several of our performances as well as giving a masterclass during a summer sectional. You might know him as the GREAT trumpet player from the band, The Neons.  Mike studied trumpet performance at Eastman.

Patrick Erwin is head of the visual staff for the Pope Marching Band. Patrick is also on the visual staff for the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. He marched with the Cavies in 2000 & 2001 on trumpet/soprano. Patrick has worked with Pope since 2000 and plans to continue working with the marching band for the next couple of years. Patrick attends the University of Georgia where he is studying to be a music educator. Sarah Grant is an alumni of the Pope Band - Class of '04.  She was center podium drum major for Zero to Sixty, a very successful show, due to her love of music and hard work.  She is involved again with the band in that she's a marching tech in the fall, and one day aspires to be a great band director herself.  She is studying music education at Georgia State University.

Jeremy B is a junior at Dacula High School and is a great friend to the Pope Trumpets.  Jeremy plays Eb for the Pope Brass Band and visits when he can.  He is one of Kay's students and thus she introduced us to him.  He hopes to be a professional musician one day and he is on a great start this far!  Jeremy went to WCU with the "Fairchild Studio" as well. Clayton Chastain is a music education major at Georgia State University. While in high school, Clayton played in the Pope Brass Band, AYWS, AYTE, District Honor Band, All-State Band (1st chair), etc. He graduated from Peachtree Ridge H.S. in May of 2004. Clayton plans to attend Northwestern to get his masters in Trumpet Performance after GSU. He ultimately wants to play in an orchestra for a living and we ALL know that he is on a great start to an unbelievable career.
